The Feline Department Manager is responsible for the day-to-day feline operations at Five Acres Animal Shelter including the overall wellness of felines in the shelter’s care, management of staff employees and volunteers, and ensuring a successful feline adoption program. The Feline Department Manager will oversee a team of shelter employees and volunteers to ensure the highest quality of care for felines at the shelter, including the intake, assessment, and placement of cats into the home, along with maintaining proper medical records. The Feline Department Manager will also engage directly with consumers and shelter partners (e.g. veterinarians) and should be able to present a professional appearance at all times. A current driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance and a good driving record is required.
Five or more years in the animal care field, specifically working with felines; priority given to those with a Veterinary Technician Degree or professionally recognized Certification in feline care or equivalent work experience
Experience managing a team, including the day-to-day supervision of employees and/or volunteers
Ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities while putting the care of the animals at the forefront
Strong organizational skills and follow-through
Good judgment and excellent problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Proficient in basic computer skills (e-mail, database management, spreadsheets, uploading photographs, etc.)
