Foster Information & Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster family for animals at Five Acres Animal Shelter!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU COMPLETE WITH THE APPLICATION.

Five Acres Animal Shelter is the only no-kill shelter in St. Charles County, finding homes for hundreds of dogs and cats every year. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, not affiliated with any other shelter, humane society, or government entity. We do not receive any tax funding – therefore, we rely on the generous support of our donors and volunteers!

This application is not to be used for regular on-site volunteering- you would need to visit the Volunteer page and fill out the Volunteer application to get more information about that. * DUE TO COVID-19, ALL NEW VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS ARE CURRENTLY POSTPONED

Please use the link below to submit interest in becoming a foster family for a dog, cat, puppies or kittens.  This is the first step before a foster family can be matched with a foster dog or cat – you will be contacted by the Canine or Feline Manager to discuss next steps.

All dogs and cats already in the potential foster family’s home must be spayed or neutered before a Five Acres dog or cat can be placed there. Additionally, all Five Acres dogs are expected to remain indoors the majority of the time while with a foster family (unless accompanied by foster family member on a leash, or outside in a yard protected with a fence); and all shelter cats are expected to remain indoors at all times while with a foster family.
